you're an obsession...you're my obsession
i have had a one track mind lately...single to the goal of acquiring a laptop computer. i'm getting ready to start applying for grad school (so, i have an actual reason) but, i've become so fixated i can hardly think about anything else. what i REALLY really really really really want is an Apple Powerbook. i'm obsessed...i even cursed out Veronica Mars last night for having one. it's a sickness, ok, i'm not proud of it. however, my budget is forcing me to think about "other options." i think that i would be just as happy with (though it's just not as silvery) the ibook...and only slightly less happy if i had to move into the PC world. i literally watch television eyeing every laptop in view. Rory Gilmore used to have one of those adorable clam shell ibooks, but, now seems to be using some fake laptop. the lady playing Lorelie's accountant had a tiny Powerbook. Meadow Soprano had a G3 ibook during her sophomore year at Columbia. THIS. IS. HOW. OBSESSED. I. AM.
what the hell, peoples? why is it such an enormous deal to me? why the sudden immediacy? i think it started when i realized (via "financing") that owning a laptop was even in my grasp. i don't think blogging has helped either. i'm finding less and less time at work ...and really i shouldn't be doing this while "working" anyway. but, shhh! that's besides the point...we'll just keep that between you an me.
on the knitting front...i did a little more "experimenting" from the Vogue stitch dictionary...and i have the pictures to prove it.

Once you're in grad school, you'll get the student discount, too...See, school is the *perfect excuse* to buy a good computer. In fact, my school has a laptop requirement. (www.knittersagainstbush.com)
"laptop requirement" is such a lovely phrase to me right now. i'm sick. sick, i tell you. i'm driving everyone i know insane with my comparison shopping.
so, i have to ask... what do you have?
Are you kidding. I am the exact same way; in fact, I'm happy to hear there is someone just as "crazy" about eyeing those cute little laptops on every damn show on television. I even check the apple website continuously to make sure something new hasn't changed. I, as you, have applied, and hopefully am getting into a program which will require (or I let myself believe) a laptop. I've decided on the powerbook though, after EXTENSIVE research from watching tv, to bothering people at university, to reading countless reviews on the net. By the way, it really DOES help to go to the store and look at the differences. As well, I used to work for 3 different pc manufacturers, and it was my job to fix people's pc's over the phone. Funny thing? when mac calls came in the all that was needed to fix their problems was "restart your mac, ma'am". Done! Hence, Im a switcher before I even get one. And the whole Veronica Mars thing? Geez, that girl has a new mac every day. Either 12, 14, or even the 15 inch models, and the countless "Buy an apple product" lines imbedded into the script "hey, who has seen the new ipod mini's, huh?". With all of their selling, at least it's true that the damn things do what they're supposed to: to get the job done, and in school, that's all that counts.
Signed,
